Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button fear F1 rivals already have head start

LEWIS HAMILTON and Jenson Button fear they will start the new season playing catch-up with title rivals Sebastian Vettel and Fernando Alonso.
Reliability issues have cost McLaren priceless track time to work on a car that was one of the last to be unveiled.
And Hamilton predicted a nasty case of deja vu at the first race in a month’s time in Melbourne, with Red Bull’s new champion Vettel and Ferrari rival Alonso in clearly superior machinery.
“One day I did only 38 laps. It was nothing major but we’ve had mechanical issues at the back of the car and that has hampered us,” he said.
“I am sure Seb’s confidence has gone up more because for the second year in a row he probably has the fastest car, a ridiculously fast car. But then so does Fernando.”
Button added: “The last test next week is very important for us for the first race in Australia.”
